"Maiden king" and legendary heroes: tales and contemporary of Þuríði Einarsdóttur

Container-ship-bridge_smallSandra Sif Einarsdóttir discusses in her BA thisis from 2002 about Þuríði Einarsdóttir (1777-1863) is one of the few local women who have served as Chairman to the sea and pursued row east of the mountain, from 11 to 53 years of age. Þuríður was controversial lady, who had to fight for her place and had a sometimes quarreled with her compatriots but always did it well at sea. The essay can be read at whole in Icelandic.
